OUR BLOG

We are passionate about what we do

HMS homes are recruiting! Do you have what it takes to be a real estate broker in Dubai?

We are always on the look-out for talented sales people who are motivated, hungry for money and looking to change their life. Our careers team receive hundreds of applications a month from people attracted by the Dubai lifestyle and the opportunity to earn life changing money.  But what is it we look for in you, our future employee?  We’re breaking down the role, the recruitment process and the kind of candidate that we look out for!

1. What does the job involve?

The role of a Real Estate agent in Dubai is not a 9-5 job. Dubai is a 24/7 kind of city and that is reflected in the hours we work to service our clients.

The job as a real estate broker itself is fairly straight forward – source the property, list the property, get clients, sell or rent the property. There are of course outside contributing factors which can and will influence your success either way but one of the main ones is YOU!

As it is a commission based role, you are essentially running your own small business within a business where you will build your own property portfolio via our large database of warm leads, conduct viewings, negotiate deals and more. The great thing about this? You, and you alone, are in control of your own success! And what’s amazing about is that you have all the support and training you need from our Directors to become a success story.

Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:-

  • Generating instructions by way of outbound calling
  • Matching clients to specific properties then arranging and conducting viewings
  • Negotiating offers between both buyer and seller or tenant and landlord
  • Conducting market appraisals
  • Photographing apartments / villas

2. What do we bring to the table?

At HMS homes we value our employees and you are not just a number to us but a valued member of a great, expanding team.

We offer extensive support, knowledge and assistance in your transition to Dubai and are always on hand to ensure your best interests are looked after throughout your employment.

Our three directors, Devin, Tom and Craig all work hard to ensure you, the broker, have all of the tools and support you need to become a great real estate agent. We work to create an environment where you will perform to the best of your abilities but also one of fun and camaraderie.

3. About you

You will be a go-getter and a natural sales person, always chasing your next lead or opportunity and you need to want it more than your competition! You should be a positive, organised and hardworking self-starter who is motivated by money. Having specific savings goals in mind are a great way to drive your passion to do well!  We want our employees to enjoy success and the rewards that come with it.

We want people who wake up in the morning excited to kick their day in to action and are ready to work so being a self-starter is non-negotiable.

You should have drive and determination with a strong desire to succeed and be number one.

Positive actions equal positive results and those who work hardest in Dubai real estate, win biggest.

4. Your experience

Not all sales experience is sales experience. This really is an all singing, all dancing sales role so your experience should be heavily sales focused – previous estate agency experience is desirable but not essential.  Our team is made up of individuals with a variety of sales backgrounds in addition to estate agency, ranging from car sales to IT sales, wealth management and more.

The role of a real estate agent in Dubai is essentially a broker role – you need strong negotiation experience and to be a natural sales person.

Our ideal candidate will have the following:-

  • Previous estate agency in sales / lettings experience or strong sales background in a target driven role
  • Calling and telephone communication experience
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Strong team player but with the ability to work alone

Savings to support your move as this is a commission only role, we do require candidates to have a minimum of £5,000 in savings to be able to support themselves initially

5. Your application

Your application is our first impression of you so we want to see some effort going in to your CV and cover letter.  Ask someone proficient with resumes to critique your CV and give you some tips on how to improve it to highlight your skills and experience.  Our tips on creating a punchy application are:-

Experience first: for us, your work experience is the most important thing – this should be the first thing on your CV after your name and contact details. We can learn more about your skills and attributes at interview stage.

Keep it relevant:  think of the job you are applying for – it is a sales role so the parts of your CV that will grab our attention are anything sales focused and these should be the areas you emphasise.

Explain any gaps: if there are significant gaps in your CV, we need to know why.  Perhaps you went travelling or took some time out to study? If so, we want to know this! CVs with unexplained gaps are a red flag to many recruiters.

Don’t be too wordy: give an overview of your work experience, not an exhaustive list.

Write a cover letter: we do not include this as a mandatory requirement for your application but we will always look favourably upon a candidate who has taken the time to express why they are applying for the role. A good cover letter can often save an application with lesser experience!

6. The interview

Your application has caught our attention so the next step is our three stage interview process.

You will firstly receive an preliminary call from our HR manager.  This is an informal call to discuss the role further and to confirm your eligibility for the position.

If this is successful, you will then progress to the first of two face-to-face Skype interviews with one of our three directors.  Alternatively, if you are in Dubai already, we will invite you to our office to meet in person.

It is a chance for us to get to know the person behind the CV.

Your first interview will be more of a ‘get to know you’ conversation – we will ask you questions but we want to see your personality and what makes you tick!

Your second interview will be with a different director to your first and will be more about how you think on your feet!

Do your research – why us, why Dubai and why real estate? A prepared interviewee is often a successful one.

Dress to impress – though we don’t expect you to sit in a three piece suit while you’re perched at your kitchen table, we do believe first impressions are everything.

Show us who you are – we want to get to know you. Relax and show us your personality – it’s often what makes a great sales person after all!

7. Job Offer: What next?

A successful second interview = job offer!

After we have received your signed job offer back, you will begin your relocation process with our HR manager who will guide and assist you every step of the way.

She will schedule an introductory phone call with you to answer any initial questions you may have about moving to Dubai and to discuss the next steps.

The good news is, we are ex-pats too! We have all been in this position before and understand the enormity of such a move.

We offer advice on everything from flights and accommodation to making friends and where is best to shop for bed linen and bananas.  Our aim is to make you feel as comfortable as possible before your move so that when you arrive, Dubai already feels like home to you!

So, if you are looking for an Estate Agency in Dubai where you will work with great people in a great company then HMS homes is the one for you!

Please connect with HMS homes and our HR Manager Melissa Bremner on LinkedIn to begin your journey to becoming Dubai’s next top real estate broker!
